Voices of Women in the Pulpit
For a year and a half Micah and Elizabeth Ashley-Pritchett served together as co-pastors and shared the pulpit alternating preaching week to week. When Elizabeth left her position as co-pastor, there was a strong desire to continue to have a female presence in the pulpit. This led to the creation of an on-going worship series we call Voices of Women in the Pulpit.
Every six weeks or so, a guest female minister is invited to preach during Sunday morning worship. This allows Englewood to continue to hear scripture and our faith interpreted and proclaimed through the experiences and voices of women. It also provides an opportunity for talented female ministers to share their gifts —an opportunity that female ministers are unfortunately often denied in many Baptist churches. Englewood strongly believes in the equality of women and men to serve God in whatever capacity God calls them. The Voices of Women in the Pulpit worship series is one way in which we are living out that belief and advocating for change in the broader religious culture.
