July 19 - 25: Mission Trip to Helena, Arkansas
We joined approximately 20 mission teams and 250 volunteers for the Together for Hope All Church Challenge. To learn more, see the blog at www.acc2008.wordpress.com. Together for Hope was launched in 2001 by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and is a long-term commitment to work with people in some of the nation’s poorest counties in order to affect change and break the cycle of economic disparity. The ministry is about establishing long-term relationship, listening, learning and walking alongside local leaders. The hope is that individuals, churches, and communities will be transformed.
Voices of Women in the Pulpit Worship Series
At Englewood we have women preachers on a regular basis through this on-going series.
July 27th - Dr. Molly Marshall
Dr. Molly Marshall will join us to lead in worship through preaching. Dr. Marshall is President and Professor of Theology and Spiritual Formation at Central Baptist Theological Seminary. She states, "I view my vocation as an 'equipper of ministers,' a midwife of grace who helps deliver what I discern is struggling to be born in the lives of students. Theological education is a process of discovering and refining calling and gifts-learning where one's 'great gladness meets the world's great need,' in the words of Frederick Buechner."
August 10 - Rev. Angela Lowe
Rev. Angela Lowe will join us to lead in worship through preaching. Rev. Lowe is a former Englewooder, and Director of Pastoral Care/Staff Chaplain at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.
